WHAT ARE THE BEST KIND OF OATS TO USE TO MAKE OATMEAL PANCAKES?
Oatmeal pancakes can be made with either quick oats (as oat flour) or old fashioned rolled oats. The quick oats will have hardly any texture and you may not even notice they are there. Rolled oats will have more of a texture in the pancake. We do not recommend using steel cut oats to make pancakes as they will have an unpleasant chewiness. I choose to make mine with oat flour.
You might ask why I use oats to make pancakes instead of all-purpose flour? Oats taste good, they are healthy, rich in fiber, protein, magnesium and especially manganese. They also contain lots of phosphorus, selenium, zinc and vitamin B1.
These easy oatmeal pancakes will become a hit in your family. We like to top them usually with plain butter and maple syrup but some other fun additions to these pancakes can include things like chocolate chips, diced apples, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries lemon zest, etc. It’s super basic but super addicting.
